Directories, Squidoo, Twitter, Forums, video sites, social bookmarking, etc.
And the list goes on and on almost forever.
Gee…’where do I start?’ you are probably thinking.
It doesn’t really matter where you begin, just go and start doing it.
The above tactics are pretty popular with search engines.
Search engine optimisation [SEO] is really my very favorite means of
getting free traffic. In reality…there really is no free traffic…
it uses your time.
A huge amount of info you find online is not really very good and the
author is just going to try and sell you some worthless dream. So don’t
just start paying someone elses mortgage with your hard earned cash
in exchange for the dream that most often turns into a nightmare.
There are reputable blogs out in cyber space that will give you good tips
on getting free traffic. Of course, marketing blogs are built for a reason
and that reason most often is to make money.
In your search for a great blog packed with free content, expect to see
some links for products. If it is filled with more links than actual helpful
information…keep looking.
You can use google to search for blogs. There are millions of them.
When you get to google, up in the left hand corner and you’ll see this:
Web – Images – Maps – News – Shopping – Gmail – more
Click on more. A dialogue box will open up and drop down.
There you will find BLOGS. Click on that and you will be brought to a search box.
Enter what kind of blog you are looking for and hit ’search’.
For the term free traffic, there are 1,804,375 results.
That should keep you busy…for the rest of your life.
If you know of any big time marketers that are actually trying to help
you succeed and not just on a mission to empty your pockets, search
thier name under blogs and check them out.
Forums are great places to get free traffic. But you must be careful not to
spam them.
First of all, go to DMOZ.org. Choose a relevant category.
Then you will see many different sub categories. Pick one that closely
matches your sites theme and go check it out.
Make sure you can have a sig file with a link to your site.
Or don’t bother joining. After you have made sure about your sig file
[a small bit about yourself and or site with a link directing readers to said website].
By the way, your sig file must describe benefits of visiting your site.
Make it interesting.
Just hang around for a while checking out what people are talking about.
If you see a post that is asking a specific question about something
you are familiar with, post a comment. Your sig file will be under your
comment and you most likely will get visitors.
Maybe you see a comment you don’t agree with. Go ahead and start
some controversy. Post a comment. People seem to love this kind of post.
Your sig file will automatically be with every post you make.
Posting Articles
Another of my favorite methods of getting free traffic…for a long time.
Your articles must have an interesting, reel the readers in title.
Use words like New, Discover, How To, Secret, Revealed, and so on.
In the article itself…tell the reader what they need to do but not how to
do it. Get them to click over to your site for the complete information.
